ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
VICE-CHAIR MICHELLE PARK STEEL ENDORSES
MAYOR DON WAGNER FOR THIRD DISTRICT SUPERVISOR
January 19, 2019
The Vice-Chair of the Board of Supervisors Michelle Park Steel (Second District) announced her endorsement of Irvine Mayor Don Wagner to become the next Supervisor for Orange County’s Third District.
Vice-Chair Steel became a taxpayer advocate when she and her immigrant mother fought what they believed was an unwarranted State Board of Equalization tax bill levied on their small business. Steel has been appointed on multiple occasions to many prestigious political posts by presidents, governors, and other elected officials. She was elected to the State Board of Equalization in 2006 and served there until she was elected to the Orange County Board of Supervisors Second District in 2014. In 2018, she was re-elected in a landslide victory. Steel holds a business degree from Pepperdine University and an MBA from the University of Southern California.
“I have known Don for a long time and have no doubt in my mind that we will fight together to reduce taxes and stand up for small businesses,” said Steel. “Don’s experience and depth of knowledge assures me that he will hit the ground running the day he’s sworn in.”
“Michelle Steel has worked tirelessly on the Board of Supervisors. I am honored by her endorsement,” said Mayor Wagner. “If elected, I pledge to work side by side with her on the Board of Supervisors to continue her great work of protecting taxpayers in Orange County."
Momentum continues to grow behind Mayor Wagner’s campaign as he leads overwhelmingly in endorsements and fundraising. Vice-Chair Steel’s endorsement adds to Mayor Wagner’s growing list of prestigious supporters.
Wagner was re-elected Mayor of Irvine by a 14-point margin. His current and former political offices have significant overlap with the 3rd District, giving him overwhelming name identification and a significant advantage in the March 12 Special Election.
